The philosophy and history behind “You Touch Africa”
The idea for funding a charity came from Claudia Nagyivan after having travelled extensively in Tanzania. Claudia Nagyivan was inspired by the efforts of father Arbogast Lekule, a missionary priest from Tanzania who is based in London, in the area around his home village Kiraracha located in the Kilimanjaro region. Together with friends they founded “You touch Africa” in 2006 in London, where Claudia lived at the time, aiming to bring about profound changes in the lives of the poor in Africa. All the trustees and associates are determined to establish lasting bonds through human solidarity and development projects. “You Touch Africa” is an official registered charity in the UK.
The philosophy of “You Touch Africa”
is simple: Keep it simple! The charity aims to work in partnership with local people in Africa in areas of health, education and micro-credit to make lasting improvements to the lives of impoverished and vulnerable people making sure that 100% of the donations will be spent on the projects. You Touch Africa has a deep knowledge of African dynamics. Hence they can determine local needs and the availability of necessary skills. The charity has a proven track record of making careful projects choices, in working with trustworthy local volunteers, in carrying out and monitoring projects and in establishing links between donors and beneficiaries.
Control of costs
You Touch Africa has no paid staff and no expensive offices. All work running the trust is undertaken by volunteers. These measures enable them to keep their overhead costs to a minimum. Their administration costs are funded by the trustees and other supporters; hence they are able to make a commitment that 100% of donations for projects will be spent on those projects. The charity also recognizes that control of the expenditure in Africa is essential. Hence the need to work in partnership with trustworthy local people in a framework of accountability.
In October 2016, Claudia organized a week full of events in Mallorca: The SEMANA TOCA AFRICA. Concerts, dinners, photo exhibitions and a thanks giving party have been part of the very successful week. Sponsored by Minkner & Partner

Die Idee hinter “You touch Africa”
Die Idee zur Gründung einer Organisation kam Claudia Nagyiván während einer längeren Reise durch Tanzania. Sie war beeindruckt von der Arbeit, die Father Arbo bereits im Kilimanjaro-Gebiet rund um sein Heimatdorf Kiraracha geleistet hatte. Die Organisation wurde im Jahr 2006 in London von Claudia und Father Arbo zusammen mit Freunden gegründet, um das Leben der Menschen in Afrika nachhaltig zu verbessern, und ist seitdem eine registrierte „charity“ in Grossbrittanien.
Die Philosophie hinter “You touch Africa”
ist einfach: Keep it simple. Ziel ist es, die Projekte der Bewohner der dortigen Gegenden direkt zu unterstützen; die Spendengelder gehen 100% von Hand in Hand, ohne dass Gelder für Extraposten ausgegeben werden.- “You touch Africa” verfügt über weitreichende Kenntnis der lokalen Bedürfnisse und der Verfügbarkeit von vertrauenswürdigen Mitarbeitern vor Ort. “You touch Africa” hat eine nachgewiesene Erfolgsbilanz dank der vorsichtig ausgewählten Projekte und der kontrollierten Durchführung und Überwachung von Projekten unter Verwendung von örtlichen Materialien sowie lokalen Arbeitskräften.
Die Kostenkontrolle
“You touch Africa” hat weder Angestellte, noch kostenaufwendige Büros. Die gesamte administrative Arbeit wird von Freiwilligen geleistet, damit 100% der Spenden in die Projekte fliessen können. Die Kostenkontrolle ist in Afrika unentbehrlich und wird bei “You touch Africa” daher ganz grossgeschrieben.
Im Oktober 2016 veranstaltete Claudia die SEMANA TOCA AFRICA, eine Woche voller Events zugunsten der Charity. Der Erfolg der Projekte von “You touch Africa”
In den vergangenen 10 Jahren konnten verschiedene Projekte, vor allem in Schulen und Krankenhäusern, erfolgreich durchgeführt werden. Auf der Webseite www.youtouchafrica.org finden sich Dokumentationen der fertigen und der aktuellen Projekte.

La idea para fundar una obra de caridad surgió de Claudia Nagyiván durante un viaje extenso a Tanzania y fue inspirada por el trabajo que vió allí, realizado ya por Father Arbo cerca de su pueblo de nacimiento, Kiraracha, en la región del Kilimanjaro. La ONG se fundó en el año 2006 en Londres, donde Claudia vivía en aquel tiempo, con Father Arbo y amigos dedicados a mejorar la vida de los pobres de África a través de un desarrollo sostenible. Es una ONG oficialmente registrada en el Reino Unido.
La filosofía de “You touch Africa”
es sencilla: Keep it simple= Mantenlo sencillo. El objetivo de la ONG es apoyar directamente a los proyectos de los habitantes de la zona con el dinero pasando 100% de mano a mano. Ninguna parte del dinero se pierde en gastos adicionales. “You touch Africa” dispone de un profundo conocimiento de África y tiene contactos directos allí. Una cuidadosa selección de los proyectos es imprescindible, así como de los voluntarios de confianza en el área que realizan el trabajo. Se aplican materiales de la zona para los proyectos, y se emplean trabajadores locales.
El control de los costes
“You touch Africa” no tiene personal remunerado y no hay oficinas caras. Todo el trabajo administrativo está realizado por voluntarios, así el 100% de las donaciones se destinan a los proyectos. El control de gasto en África es esencial, por lo tanto “You touch Africa” colabora con personas de confianza controlando las gestiones de los proyectos y la administración del dinero.
En Octubre 2016 se celebró con gran éxito la SEMANA TOCA AFRICA en Mallorca, organizada por Claudia, una semana llena de eventos, conciertos, cenas, una fiesta de cosecha y una exposición de fotografías. Patrocinado por Minkner & Partner
El éxito de los proyectos de “You touch Africa”
En los últimos 10 años se han realizado con mucho éxito varios proyectos, sobre todo en las escuelas y los hospitales de la zona. En la página web www.youtouchafrica.org se encuentran documentaciones de proyectos realizados y pendientes.
